Why should you become a certified wildlife habitat?

Trees on the coast, Destin Fort Walton Beach Florida, Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance and Saneka's Legacy are coming together to help make Okaloosa county a certified community wildlife habitat!

Becoming a community wildlife habitat will not only beautify Okaloosa county, it will help bring balance back to the environment. Native habitats all over the county are being taken over and destroyed by development. Certifying your yard, school, business, or neighborhood will bring Okaloosa one step closer to ensuring there is still space for our important flora and fauna.

You don't want to certify but still want to do your part?

That's great! We have community park clean ups happening every month! Scroll down to see our calendar of clean ups.

Certify your garden Garden for Wildlife Garden Certification Checklist

Is there a cost?

When you certify, your $20 application fee supports the National Wildlife Federation's programs to inspire others to make a difference and address the issues leading to declining habitat for wildlife nationwide. A portion of your fee also supports work for local wildlife in select affiliate partner states.

You can also choose to pay an additional fee to have a certified sign.
